NEAR NORTH
Just northwest of the corner of Wells Street and North Avenue is the charming Lincoln Park enclave known as the Old Town or Old Town Triangle. The neighborhood has quaint narrow streets —some paved with bricks — and historic cottages, row homes, brownstones and townhouses. Old Town is charmingly desirable. Immediately North of Old Town, Lincoln Park, favorite of young professionals and families, presents a mix of mansions, original Chicago row homes with ornamented Victorian facades, two-flats, apartment dwellers and home owners. The neighborhood has restored greystones and newer homes designed by top Chicago architects.
West of Old Town and Lincoln Park you’ll find two of the most trendy and fashionable Chicago areas. Bucktown is a chic neighborhood with a diverse population and booming nightlife. Scattered alongside residential properties throughout the area are bars, clubs, shops, and restaurants. Bucktown is primarily residential and consists of older single family homes and contemporary lofts and condominiums. Bucktown’s architecture ranges from Victorian homes and classic cottages to reworked lofts and modern condos. Most Bucktown buildings are between two and four stories high. North of Bucktown and just as west is Wicker Park. Wicker Park in the 1980’s was characterized by the arrival of artists who were attracted by the neighborhood’s easy access to the Loop, cheap loft space, and urban feel. Therefore, Wicker Park also has a number of art galleries and exhibitions, including the Around the Coyote annual art walk. These two fashionable areas have some of the most modern and exciting newly constructed homes. They are not to be missed.
